Description

The REVEAL Analyzer provides the excavator, researcher, or student with integrated multi-format access to the tables, photographs, and 3d models in the database.  Exploring and filtering the data in plan view, 3D view, photo view, or tabular view generates automatic back-end queries to extract, format, and display relevent information from the database.

The interface allows a user to develop a detailed understanding of the data without requiring expertise in complex database or data display tools.

In the field this allows instant rendering of data in site context, providing faster and more comprehensive understanding of the subject matter embodied in the data.  Post excavation this allows complex examination of data and selection of subsets of data for export to speciallized applications.

Satellite photos, site plans, trench plans, and building drawings are displayed as layers on the plan view.  REVEAL presents position data such as artifact locations and locus areas as icons and shaded areas on the plan view.  The user can select icons and drill down for detail or bring up related data, photographs, images, and 3D models.

The 3D view positions artifact models, in-situ excavation models, and excavation layers accurately within models of the excavation.  3D icons show positions of artifacts and 3D volumes show loci.  REVEAL provides the same level of interactivity for 3D data so the user can drill down on a 3d element and get related data, photos, and 2d plan data.

Photos can be selected and filtered by attribute and by manually selecting from groups of thumbnails.  The photos can be opened and examined in detail.  The user can also drill down to related data, plan positions, and 3d models.  Sets of photos can be selected for export to external applications and for publishing.

Data tables allow collection of related data from multiple tables, filtering, sorting, and reordering.  The user can drill down to related plan positions, photos, and 3d models.  The data can be formatted and exported for use in external applications and for publication.
